Greetings!
I'm James Deacon, Master-level Reiki Healing Facilitator
I
sometimes use the term 'Reiki Master', but, as most of us Reiki-ka
( - practitioners) must eventually come to realise & admit
- even if it is only to ourselves - the term 'Reiki Master' is
really a misnomer: not so much a case of 'Master of Reiki'
as 'Mastered by Reiki' - so I feel that the term: 'Master-level
Reiki Healing Facilitator' is perhaps more fitting.
Why don't I simply call myself a 'Master-Level Reiki Healer'?
So many people claim to be Healers - yet in truth we can never
really heal anyone else - the most we can do is to facilitate
healing: to set up the conditions (or, as it is often phrased:
'hold the healing space') & provide the Reiki - thereby enabling
& assisting the person to heal themselves.
At least, thats my opinion...

For
over thirty years now, I have been involved in extensive research
into wide-ranging and diverse aspects of the field of 'Mind, Body
& Spirit'.
Throughout this period, my personal journey has primarily been
one of resonance with the Esoteric, Therapeutic & Martial
disciplines of China & Japan; the Western Mystical Tradition;
and elements of Sufi/Dervish practice.
I have a strong background in 'vital-energy therapy' disciplines
- having worked primarily with SHEN®, Therapeutic Touch, Mesmero-Magnetic
Healing, Tenchi Seiki Te-Ate, & specific aspects of Qi Gung,
prior to undertaking Reiki Master-level Initiation & Training
in 1998.

A
deep and abiding (some would say obsessive) fascination with various
forms of 'energy' disciplines (- be they Reiki-derived systems,
or independently-evolved systems of Healing and Spiritual Empowerment
-) and specifically my ongoing research into the origins of Reiki
- has inspired me to create this website which I hope you will
find a valuable resource.
Ongoing development of this site has, amongst other things involved:
Follow-up
research (both 'within' and 'without' the Reiki Community) in
relation to information personally gleaned from seminars, training
courses; and word of mouth via discussions with Reiki teachers
in Japan and world-wide
Collating Reiki-related materials from disparate sources in an
attempt to arrive at some degree of corroboration of the 'facts'
Research into relevant areas of Japanese history, culture and
religion, including study of numerous academic journals and papers
A personal experience-base of various Japanese therapeutic, martial
and spiritual disciplines, spanning a period of almost 30 years
The occasional assistance of a small number of friends, and other
acquaintances (some Reiki folk, some not) who are either native-speakers
of Japanese, or fluent due to years spent studying or working
in Japan, and thus conversant with subtle aspects of modern Japanese
language and culture I might otherwise have overlooked
Direct communication and discussion with professors and other
academics involved in various aspects of the broadranging field
of 'Japanese Studies' - particularly as relating to pre-WWII culture
and spirituality
Commissioning the translation of various Japanese documents
Discussions - either directly or via third parties - with professed
'original sources' of info relating to the 'new' Reiki history...
The list goes on and on...
And while I am indebted to many for their assistance, a token
list of acknowledgements:
Jiro Kozuki
Hoshi Ito
Sadako Yamamoto
Sho Yoshizaki
Professor Fabio Rambelli
